Hi, we’re Chris and Mark and we run Derby’s branch of PetStay. Having both grown up with dogs all our lives, it’s always been our aim to take our love of dogs and turn it into a career… and to be actually doing it is a dream come true for both of us.
On taking holidays ourselves it always took plenty of planning to ensure our own dog was well looked after without the need of having to go into a kennel and when Mark’s parents started caring for another branch of PetStay and seeing what they had to offer we knew we had to get involved and bring this much-loved alternative to Derby.
We know the importance of ensuring you can go on holiday knowing your dog(s) is well cared for and with PetStay you get that peace of mind as well as giving your dog(s) a little holiday too. All our carers go through rigorous checks before they can start caring so we know we only have the best on board.
Based in Breaston and living on the Derby/Nottingham border, the success of bringing PetStay to Derby has been so overwhelming we thought it only right we also brought PetStay to the doggies of Nottingham! Many many thanks for choosing to let Margaret look after Millie while we were having the holiday from hell in Italy. I was able to leave Millie with no hesitation whatsoever. Upon return it seems she had had the time of her life. Long walks plenty of free time in the garden and most of all lots of love. Very happy with this lovely lady and hopefully will use her again

I am so happy to have find this service! With an 8 month old puppy I was worried about going away and leaving him anywhere but right from the very start Chris put my mind at ease and answered all my questions. Straight away we were introduced to the brilliant couple, Ian & Odette, who were more than happy to maintain all aspects of our dog's routine (even making room in their freezer for his food!) He had such a brilliant time (literally running off to play as soon as we dropped him off) that I've already booked him in again. I wouldn't dream of using anywhere else now and most definitely would recommend to any one who doesn't like the idea of kennels. Brill service and great value for money to keep your dog happy so you can actually enjoy yourself while you're away!

I have used Petstay twice. Previously i have put my dog, Clarrie, into kennels which she appears to be happy in but, when it could not take her last year, I thought that I would try Petstay. Although it is more expensive than kennels the service is excellent. We met the carers to make sure we were happy with them and they were happy with Clarrie. She has stayed with them twice and is very happy with them. Similarly they clearly love having her. They have a comfortable warm house with a big secure garden and are near good country walks. I feel much happier that she is in a normal home and not a kennel cage. I would recommend this service to anyone.

I have a rescue dog who is extremely sensitive to changes in his environment. He hates being away from us so kennels are not an option. I was so impressed with how well paired we were and the team found the perfect pet sitters for our time away. I can’t rate the service highly enough. Very glad my neighbour with a sensitive spaniel recommended them!

We have really valued the service provided by petstay... They provided a personalised friendly service allowing us the assurance that our puppy was in good hands while we were away. We met our host family and had the chance to see how our dog got on with them. We also exchanged WhatsApp messages while we were away which was fun!

We found Pet stay Derby via a recommendation. After speaking to chris for information we were more than assured and happy to procide onto the next step which was to meet Phil and Sue who our treasured Harley would be boarding with. A fantastic couple! Harley took to them straight away which made us happy. Harley stayed for five days. He was well loved aand looked after. Regular texts and photos too. Would not send harley anywhere else now. Thank you!

We were worried about our 13 year old labrador being away from us for over a week, but our concerns were groundless. Our own dog routines were adopted by Ian and Odette, and our dog was clearly very happy in their care. Regular updates and photographs calmed our nerves while away! The Petstay booking experience/administration was efficient and painless. We will definitely be returning customers.

Chris and Sue who had my two dogs are the loveliest people. I felt confident leaving my dogs in their care and they listened carefully to their normal routines etc and tried to replicate these as much as possible. They sent me messages and photos whilst I was away so I felt reassured that all was well. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to kennels.

Our dog Daisy had her first holiday with Paul and Pat and had a great time. They updated me by text that she had settled in really quickly so I felt reassured that Daisy was happy. Paul and Pat were happy to follow Daisy's normal routine.
I've used Petstay several times now with some different carers due to availability. All the carers have been excellent. For a few pounds more than kennels Daisy gets one to one, home from home care, so she gets a real holiday as well as me!

We left our dogs for the week knowing they were in a lovely home. Our dogs are still young and it was important to us that their boundaries remained in our absence. We will definitely use petstay again a much better option for our dogs than the kennels.

We were very apprehensive about where our young Puppy would go whilst we were on holiday, he was only 5 months old & Kennels seemed to bleak & austere for such a young dog!
Petstay were great, Paddy went to Stay with Liz & Alan- & Sketch - & he had a great time, going on adventures with Sketch!
We got photos & updates every couple of days & he looked very happy.

We boarded Barney from March 8th to 15th and, though he cried a little when we left him, he soon settled in. We received text updates from Odette throughout our holiday, and Barney was fast asleep on the sofa when we went to pick him up.
We heartily recommend the Petstay experience. The small increase in fees over kennels is more than compensated for by the quality of the service. We will not hesitate to have Barney stay with Odette and Ian again.

Our 9 year old Cavalier Spaniel "Ollie" is a very adaptable dog, but we could tell when we picked him up from kennels he hadn't liked the experience much - he would cry loudly on collection and couldn't get away fast enough. Petstay was recommended to us by another Cavalier owner, so we thought we'd give it a try. It wasn't a lot more than kennels but the difference for Ollie was obvious when we collected him - he was pleased to see us but he was calm and didn't seem so desperate to come home like before. We don't feel guilty about going away without him anymore as we know he's having a lovely time at his home from home with Liz and her family. Highly recommended.

Beans our 2 year old Cockerpoo really enjoyed his stay with Wendy, Robert and their family. Beans loved playing with their two dogs Poppy and Toby. It was a home from home. Alfie our 9 year old poodle/border terrier cross stayed with Lorna and Mike while we went on holiday abroad. Alfie is by nature a very anxious little dog who hates being left alone so understandably we were keen to make sure that he was matched with the right people. Chris seemed to understand what we were looking for and we needn't have worried, as soon as we met Lorna and Mike we knew Alfie would be fine. They clearly love dogs and Alfie seemed very comfortable in their home. It was fantastic to be able to go on holiday feeling that he would be looked after in the same way that we do. I would have no hesitation in recommending PetStay Derby and will be using them again.

Cassie stayed with Chris, Mark and the fabulous Audrey while we went for a few days abroad. Cassie is an 11month old cocker spaniel and we wanted her to stay somewhere she would be looked after as we look after her at home. Chris let us know exactly what we needed to bring, we met up to make sure Cassie would be comfortable and although I was apprehensive about leaving Cassie for a few days for the first time, I was reassured that she would be well looked after by people who obviously love dogs. Whilst away Chris sent us photos of Cassie - something which became a highlight of our youngest son's holiday! When the time came to collect her we could see she had been well cared for and she obviously felt very comfortable with Chris. I would have no hesitation in recommending PetStay Derby and will be using them again.

My dog Ted (German Pointer) recently stayed with a family at Barrow - I have to say we were thrilled to bits. He was treated like a member of the family, and settled in incredibly well - he got on famously with the owners 2 dogs. We were sent regular text messages and photos of him out on walks and he seemed to be having a wonderful time. I could immediately tell when i picked him that he had a great time, he was almost reluctant to leave! Absolutely no hesitations in reccommending.

We only had our dog 5months she is a rescue dog, 12months old and had been in kennels for 5 months. We had a family member lined up to look after her but this fell through. We were very anxious about who we could trust to look after her and of course were adamant she not go back into a kennel environment. Petstay to the rescue! Chris was extremely helpful and put us in contact with Diane who looked after our dog just as we do, she was happy, we were happy. We hope we now have solved our dog sitting problem for any future vacations and do hope Chris can help us out again and hopefully Diane will be free to have her. I would not hesitate to recommend petstay to anyone.

The service from PetStay from the first contact to leaving my two small dogs with their host family has been exceptional. Nothing has been too much trouble. Time was taken to match my puppies to the right carers and it was spot on from the outset. Beatrix and Oscar rushed to greet their 'Auntie Viv' on their second stay with huge excitement. Mine are needy and at times overly so but Viv and Mike took it all in their stride despite sleepless nights to start off with. I would never use any other pet care service now I've found them.

We found the experience of using PetStay first class. Both Daisy & Lillie really enjoyed their holiday with Terry & Wendy. We think that it was just like a home from home. PetStay are easy to contact @ Chris replied the same morning. He set up a meeting for us with Alfie's holiday carer @ we were able to check out the home & area & have all our questions answered. Alfie has now been to stay with Wendy twice & we have just booked another stay. He is well looked after & soo loved by the family it makes leaving him that much easier. We have recently come back from a wonderful 3 week holiday. It was made more wonderful by the reassurance that our crazy 3 year old Hungarian Viszla, Huxley was being well cared for. We got texts throughout our holiday to say how he was settling in which was very important to us. When we picked him up he looked fantastic. We could tell he was happy as, although he was pleased to see us, he was in no hurry to leave. We will definitely be using Derby Petstay again as it gives us the peace of mind that our furry family member is having as good a time as us.

When I booked my holiday I was so worried about max and where he would go, thinking he would have to go into kennels was awful as he's my baby, but then I heard about petstay and I phoned them and they couldn't have been nicer, they understood completely how I was feeling and put my mind at rest. They rang me back after about an hour and had chosen a host family that they thought both max and I would be happy with, and they were so right, I was put in touch with Laura who is the loveliest girl and we arranged to walk together with max and her dog and everyone just clicked. I went on holiday with no worries about max at all and I sent messages to laura whilst I was away and she let me know max was happy and settled. I shall never have worries about leaving him again and I'm sure if he could talk he would be asking me to go away again so he could go and play with his new friends again!

I used this service for the first time, I thought it was well organised, friendly, easy to communicate and a fantastic service. Will definitely be using again without a doubt. Fully recommended!

We are completely happy with the care Bella received at Jane and Jeff's via Pet Stay
As our pet is a rescue we were concerned about putting her back in kennels and so chose Pet stay and had friendly support from Chris to match her with the correct carer .
They made us all very welcome when we visited and asked for relevant information to ensure Bella had a home from home and usual routine.
Jane kept us informed, by email ,how she was doing and even a picture showing how relaxed Bella was ,which reassured us we had made the correct decision as it was the first time she had been left with strangers .
On return, Bella was happy to see us but her body language with Janet and Jeff showed how she had become attached to them also (Jane and Jeff's did too ).
We will have no hesitation to return to use the service in the future .

This was the first time I have ever used this type of service and Chris was so helpful and understanding seeking a home for Daisy and Maisie at very short notice during this busy holiday season. I was very nervous about the whole thing as our usual dogsitter was unavailable. Thankfully he found a lovely couple not far away. We took both the girls to meet them and they settled in their home and garden instantly. They clearly love dogs and had plenty of time to walk and love my babies. I was delighted that they had no other animals as my girls are not used to sharing their space, which is something I mentioned to Chris in our first conversation. We were so pleased with the match that we extended the stay as the girls were going to be with a friend for the first half of our holiday, however I felt much happier with them staying for the whole duration even though it would cost us more. It was just the right thing to do.
There were further complications in the run up to the due day but Chris went beyond the call of duty to help out and reassure me everything would be fine.
When we got home and collected the girls, I could instantly see how much they had enjoyed their little doggy holiday. They have been home for a day now and show no signs of being insecure and clingy which for me is a really good sign. If I need to I would happily use this service again, preferably with the same couple.
Please be reassured I would not use this service if I was not happy with it.
I am extremely fussy about who looks after my girls.

Pat and Paul were amazing, they really took the time to get to know Lottie our 7 month old Border Collie puppy. We were concerned about leaving such a young dog while we were away but we did not need to worry. Lottie was looked after fantastically, Pat and Paul were brilliant. We would definitely use Petstay Derby again. Thanks Chris for taking the time to find the right home for Lottie, we had a great holiday knowing she was staying with people who really cared for her.

How can we thank you enough, Chris you couldn't have chosen a better couple than Wendy and Terry for
Blue. He was so happy with them , well looked after and spoilt, he came home well behaved on the lead from the walks they had taken him on.
Wendy and Terry kept us informed while we were away , and sent messages and photographs, so I had no

Having used PetStay twice whilst away on short breaks, I have the peace of mind that my dog, Teddy, will be well cared for on my next break which is for two weeks. Teddy was just a puppy when he first had a PetStay holiday so I was obviously apprehensive about leaving him…I shouldn’t have been, as he seemed to have the time of his life!! He was well cared for and the regular updates Odette sent completely put me at ease and allowed me to relax. Living so close to Odette, he now gets excited every time he sees her or Ian and their dogs Henry and Lennox. I couldn’t imagine using an alternative or kennels for him now as there’s nothing better than coming home to a happy little face and wagging tail.

From first meeting Kate and her family and of course Archie,I just knew the high standard of care and love Zippy would encounter.Knowing that he would be with another dog to help with his social skills and and a family that would help with his separation anxiety, allowed us to go away with no concerns.
The communication and daily updates from Kate really were appreciated and the photos of Zip just looking relaxed and happy.
I would highly recommend the is service to anyone who wants their dog to adjust easily to you not being there-very professional and grounded people put your mind at ease

Have a elderly Collie Dillon who has never stayed in kennels so this is the perfect answer for anyone worried about leaving thier pet while on Holiday. Laura & Mick looked after him really well and kept us informed about how Dillion was doing and that he had settled in. Meet them before we went away so they were fully aware of his needs and little foilbles. He was very happy and well cared for and would not hesitate to use this service again

I was so worried about leaving my 7 year old dog with someone else, as I normally have a family member to care for him when I'm way. But I couldn't be more please with the care he got. Firstly I got in contact with Chris via a web site I found. He was so helpful and lessoned to me regarding Alfie's needs and put me in touch with a lady, who I visited with my dog before my hols. She was so caring and was happy to help with any needs Alfie as. When I went on my hols she texted me to confirm that Alfie had had a good first night and part way though the hols texted me again to let me know he had settled in really well. I was so please that she contacted me, as it put my mind to rest and I could enjoy my hols. Thank you Pet Stay for all your help and to Jane for the care that Alfie received, I will be using you again. One happy customer
