The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon is open 365 days a year, and is set along the beautiful and historic Jurassic Coast.

Please remember that they are a working farm and many of their walkways are grass so bring footwear suitable for the weather.

Much of your time will be spent outdoors so please plan for every eventualilty with our great British weather. Wellies are ideal on wet days and sun hats and sun cream on hot sunny days.

Don't forget to pack appropriate layers of clothing to help keep you warm if there's a nip in the air.

They ask that you do not feed the donkeys as it encourages them to expect food from everyone and fingers can look deceptively like carrots to a donkey!

Kindly pass any treats to staff who will ensure they are distributed to the donkeys at feeding time.

Smoking is not allowed in any areas of high fire risk. Please take notice of all "No Smoking" signs around The Donkey Sanctuary.

They offer donkey assisted therapy to hundreds of local school children with additional needs.

If you know someone who would benefit, then call the team on 01395 573009.

If you have some spare time and would like to become more involved in their work, find out what volunteer opportunities they have available.

They are a registered venue for weddings. For more information or to arrange a visit, please visit their weddings section and see how you can fall in love with their venue.

Visit the adoption donkeys and make a friend for life. There are special Meet the Groom sessions running every morning and afternoon which offer a chance for you to hear all the donkeys' latest stories and get to know these delightful characters better.

Just pop in to the Visitors' Centre when you arrive to find out more.
