Samsara offers a unique Muscle Therapy program aimed at treating the root causes of pain which can result in poor performance, lameness and behavioural issues in horses

They specialise in the re-training and rehabilitation of horses that can no longer work or who under performing due to an underlying condition or injury.

Many problems that horses have including behavioural problems can be traced back to unresolved muscular pain.

The clinic is aimed at helping you and your horse to develop. The teaching is underpinned by the classical riding principles which are (in order): Rhythm, Suppleness, Contact, Impulsion, Straightness, Impulsion.

Each session can include a combination of any of the following:

• Lessons in using the Pessoa, Cavesson and Long Reining

• Resolving issues with your horse (too hollow, hanging on the bit, rushing forward in transition, not responsive to the aids etc.)

• Working on balance of rider and horse

Severe Kissing Spines

Flame is my 16 year old ex racehorse who I have owned for 6 years ... most of this time before his rehab at Samsara 2 years ago was not an enjoyable one! He was volatile, defensive, nappy and spooky and extremely acrobatic ... and even though I tried all avenues to improve his behaviour including months of unridden work and visits from numerous back practitioners I always felt he wasn't quite right. He was finally diagnosed with severe kissing spines. At his then age of 14 I didn't want to put him through the stress of surgery and luckily found Samsara ... he stayed with Stephen for 3 months of rehab and came back a totally different horse!

He is now a contented, happy and rideable horse and I've been able to do so much more with him ... so much so that I bit the bullet and bought a horsebox so I could take him to dressage and sponsored rides .. something that I'd never considered previously! My vet is very impressed with his surgery free recovery and totally endorses Stephen's work with Flame.

I'm now a very happy horse owner with a very happy horse!

An Holistic Approach

Don't wait until there is a problem! I have been aware of, and witnessed, the success stories which Samsara Equitation have written for the rehabiliation cases with which they re presented. These are very impressive and are testament to the fallibility of modern veterinary opinion and training methods.

My personal involvement with Samsara has been the starting and backing of young horses, some homebred and others bought from the Breeder. Stephen's approach is an holistic one which nurtures the horse physically and psychologically. I can say that all the horses, without exception, have flourished and reached their training goals with every consideration for their individuality and well-being.

A great experience for horse and owner/rider/trainer! Don't wait until you have a physical and/or psychological problem....get them started properly with a sound base to the pyramid of education.

Diagnosis; kissing spines, prognosis; put to sleep!

My 8 year old ISH mare was diagnosed with severe kissing spines after a scary bolting, bucking and rearing incident. The options given to me by my vet were; to have her put to sleep or keep her as a field companion. I retired her to her field as I could not bare to have her put to sleep. A year later a friend came across an article in a horse magazine about an alternative treatment for kissing spines. One which involved muscle therapy rather than surgery. I was sceptical at first and terrified of getting back on her after our accident. But after talking to Stephen and other owners who's horses had been treated at Samsara my anxieties were alleviated and I decided to give it a try.

Wow what a difference a year makes! Now back at home she is like a different horse and I have learnt so much. Whilst we still have a long way to go, we have a future and one that is full of promise. I would urge anyone who has a problem with their horse to give Stephen a ring, he believes what he does works and in my experience it really does. Thank you so much.

Supportive, caring and enthusiastic

I've known Stephen (and Julie ) for about 3 years - Stephen gives devoted attention to his clients and I believe he genuinely cares about the outcome for the horse and the rider/owner.

I have had advice and help for 2 horses and been involved with a third owned by a friend and I would definitely recommend his treatment and support plan to anyone who feels they are at the end of the lead rope with their horse, for whatever reason.

He is also an extremely caring, sympathetic and encouraging teacher, who would instil confidence in the most nervous of riders.

Samsara Equitation

My Daughter and I have always had very good service from Samsara Equitation. Stephen is a really conscientious horseman who gives tailored guidance and instruction to clients regarding their particular riding query or the training requirements of their horse/pony.
Both our horses have benefitted from training with Stephen to address specific behavioural issues, but it does not stop with the horse, and quite right too, as in each case the rider has been given 'the tools' to continue the good work and has therefore benefited from the experience in equal measure.

Samsara came to my rescue when I had no idea what to do next with my beautiful horse and his mystery problems. They provided the best care and healing I could have wished for, and helped me too, to better understand how to create, and then build on a secure and trusting relationship with him.
The aftercare advice and support is 100% too.
