Exciting Walks For You & Your Dog

Today is a date in the diary your dog is going to LOVE...that’s right, it’s officially ‘Walking The Dog Day!!’

I know what you’re thinking; every day is walking the dog day (well it should be anyway!) but today is apparently a day to celebrate it (and let’s face it, there’s a good reason to, as there are so many amazing places to walk your dog (plus it’s good for you and your dogs mind, body and soul - even in the pouring rain and freezing cold!)

Some of us may enjoy walkies, some may think it’s a bit of a chore, but I suspect that’s all down to where you walk your dog and the good old British weather! So in view of today and with Spring around the corner, I thought it would be great to pick three fun places you can explore and walk your dog this year, as listed on The Good Vet & Pet Guide! A great excuse to hop in your car and set out for an adventure with you and your four-legged friend! Ready?!! Let’s go....!!!

Holkham Hall Beach

Wells Next-Sea

Norfolk, NR23 1AB

So maybe large group walks aren't your thing? No problem (although be prepared to encounter others, as well as some wildlife for my next suggestion!) I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love walking my dogs on a beach (when we’re lucky enough to be close to one!) Catching some sea air with your four-legged friend has to be one of the most fun things to do as a dog paw-rent! I went with my dogs for the first time last year and can’t wait to explore even more this year!

Norfolk is well-known for being a fantastic dog-friendly area, so why not head to one of their beautiful beaches (there are definitely some on my wish list!) One which really leapt out to me is Holkham, which is part of one of the largest National Nature Reserves in the country.

The beach is open to dogs all year round (many beaches often have restrictions during peak seasons) so it’s great to find one which is openthroughout the year!) If that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, Holkham was even voted ‘Best Beach’ in The Kennel Club’s Be Dog Friendly Awards in 2015. Imagine walking across the sand, waves lapping at your feet...wouldn’t that make a rather fun walk? I certainly think so!

WALK THREE

Okehampton Castle

Castle Lodge,

Okehampton

Devon EX20 1JA

Now how about exploring some UK history with your four-legged friend in the form of Devon’s largest castle ruins?!

I actually didn’t think dogs would be welcomed in such a setting but the good news is, they are (although they must remain on a lead!) You and your dog might even be able to sniff out some ghosts (apparently it’s haunted!) or if your dog prefers sniffing the usual sights and smells of the great outdoors, there are some beautiful woodland walks surrounding it, as well as a riverside picnic area for you all to enjoy.

I can just imagine exploring here on an early Spring morning. I bet it is just stunning!! Want to find out more?
