St Benets, Sea Palling

Sleeps 10-12 | 5 Bedrooms

St Benets is a very nicely appointed family house, well furnished and a very short walk from the sandy Blue Flag beach at Sea Palling, a small seaside resort with a dog friendly pub, village shop, fish and chips, dog friendly cafe and one small amusement arcade.

The beach is protected by rock reefs which form calmer areas of water along the main part of the beach and are ideal for swimming. It is perfect for dog walking and whilst there are restrictions in place from May to September it is only to the left of the access ramp; to the right you can walk the dogs for miles on the beach and in the dunes and stop off at nearby Waxham Barns for a coffee or further on to the Nelson's Head at Horsey for a drink. Seals are a common sight along this stretch of coast.

The house has a contemporary and elegant feel but also manages to be homely and comfortable with many of the original Victorian features retained.
It can sleep up to 12 in 5 bedrooms, although an ideal number would probably be between 6 and 10.

Hidden Gem - just as good second time as first!

Hidden Gem is perfect for human and canine members of the family alike - a stunning location, backing onto the dunes where dogs can run for miles without worrying about traffic or livestock (unless you venture onto the beach and come across the occasional seal, we didn't), a beautifully equipped cottage with every need covered, an amazing welcome pack including delicious treats for both dogs and people alike, located in a village with a store for everyday needs a very short walk from the cottage, a fish and chip shop serving delicious food and a dog friendly pub too, what more could we ask for? We'll be back again next year for sure.

Just Brilliant

We have just had a week in Farthing Cottage. We can't fault the property. I had expectations that it might be a bit 'dog eared' on account that so many dogs visit, but nothing could be further than the truth. It was spotless and the array of dog accessories could have meant I need not have packed the car with so many dog bits, but saying that I do prefer to use my own stuff but I am sure many people would be thrilled to not have to pack for their dogs too. Everything has been thought of and I'm sure if someone did think of something missing that it would be provided the next time they visited. We cooked in house all but the last day and found everything we needed.

As I am quite sensitive to chemicals and detergents the cleaner kindly double rinsed the bedding for me, and also took the initiative to switch off the plug in air freshners which I was greatly relieved off. But that was so thoughtful.

The property is well placed for some amazing walks, and we also visited 'The Canoe Man' and took our two large dogs on the Broads in a canoe for an afternoon.

We genuinely hope to return, I loved staying at Farthing Cottage.

Absolutely perfect!

We arrived at Farthing Cottage not really knowing if the photos were going to have been misleading BUT! WOW! Absolutely perfect house with everything and more that we could possibly have needed! The dogs (all 4 of them) settled so quickly, they were clearly impressed by the treats and lovely dog beds that were waiting for them. As were we with the lovely cake and prosseco. The property was clean and tidy (not at all how non dog lovers would imagine a dog friendly holiday home) the beds were very comfy. Teenage son was very impressed by the tv in his room! The area is so dog friendly, I don’t just mean “the dog is allowed in the beer garden” kind of friendly but more like people say hi to the dogs before the humans!! The beaches were clean and inviting even the the dog friendly ones (didn’t come across a single mess!) from this review you’ll probably guess the kind of “dog friendly” holidays I’ve been on in the past. East Ruston offers over and above any other company I’ve used before and will most definitley be returning!

Milestone Barn, Gimingham

We have stayed in many dog friendly places, most of which I would not want my dog to stay in!! So I was so happy when we opened the door to this beautiful barn conversion, which did not smell like a dog kennel. Was super clean. Lovely welcome pack with some good advice for dog beaches and walks. Took an extra puppy last minute and Sue was more than obliging. The garden was enclosed so could sit with the door open and dogs could wonder about. Definitely would recommend.

The Lodge

We have just had our second stay at The Lodge and will be returning for another visit next year. It is a truly lovely location, clean, bright, airy and wheelchair accessible and very dog friendly. It has a fully enclosed garden and patio area, a wheelchair accessible shower room with shower stool and is comfortably. furnished. It's ten minutes from a dog friendly beach, fifteen minutes from Bacton wood - also known at Witton wood and three miles from Stalham which has a Tesco store. The area is very dog friendly as are the people.

Pawfect!

We could not have wished for a better place to stay. I took 10 dogs with me, some of which are reactive to dogs and people. The garden was very secure so no worries about the dogs having free time in the sun. The walks nearby were perfect for us and our dogs as we did not meet a sole. The beaches were great. We went early morning with some of the more difficult dogs so they could have a great run and lots of fun. The other dogs we took during busier times and still had lots of space to enjoy the beach. I am looking forward to our next two bookings knowing how easy it was for us to relax and enjoy this holiday, even with tricky dogs!

Orchard Cottage Happisburgh

Our third stay at this perfect Cottage which at's it all really. We love it's homely and welcoming atmosphere and appreciate the owners' attention to detail and high standard of cleanliness. Fabulous welcome treats are always much appreciated too! Everything that you or your dogs could possibly need is provided. We and our dogs love spending time in the gorgeous garden and the dogs also love the cool tiled floor to sleep on in the heat. Happisburgh is a lovely village with lots going on. Having now stayed at 8 East Ruston Cottages, we can thoroughly recommend Sue and ERC.

Excellent Cottage and Sea Palling very dog friendly

Mid Thatch is a lovely cottage and is very well located for visiting the Norfolk coast. Clean and well laid out with a very secure garden area which is gravelled and ideal for dogs. We were a party of three adults and three dogs (a cocker spaniel and two Alaskan Malamutes) and MidThatch was great accommodation for us all. Sea Palling is very dog friendly and the locals are great. Within a very short walk from Mid Thatch there is a fabulous beach with a wide expanse of dog access areas. There are two cafes, a fish & chip shop, a store/post office and a very nice pub/restaurant called the Reef Bar. Food is good and it is very dog friendly. Great friendly local atmosphere within the bar. Highly recommend both MidThatch and Sea Palling.

Loved this cottage, it had everything needed for me, my friend and our 4 dogs. Loved the garden and the open countryside all around. Nice log fire in the Inglenook fireplace which was very cosy. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the little treats left for us were much appreciated. So glad we’ve found nice places to take our dogs for their holidays.

Orchard Cottage

We have had a wonderful week at Orchard Cottage, greeted by cakes, strawberries and doggie treats, I can honestly say that both cottage and area are the most dog friendly we have ever stayed in. Every desire both human and canine are catered for within the cottage and a huge secure garden to sit out and play in. Beautiful dog friendly beaches and pub/restaurants, one being just a couple of minutes walk away with biscuits at the ready for the girls !! Can't recommend highly enough, especially for multi dog families.

Lovely cottage

Church View Cottage felt as though it had been prepared for cherished friends. A genuinely dog-friendly cottage. Warm and cosy. Owners even gave dog tags with their own mobile numbers on, in case our dog got lost and our own mobiles couldn't get a signal. Safe enclosed garden. Carefully sourced vegan treats for us. Close to several pretty beaches. Friendly owners. Hope to go again soon.

Farthing Cottage, Trunch

One of the best places we have ever stayed; would never have known dogs stayed there before us, it was so clean! Super comfy, and treats were waiting for hoomans and hounds. 6' fenced garden to keep our 5 (no extra charge) sighthounds safely contained; beds, bowls, toys, throws, dog-towels, first aid stuff etc all provided. Woodstove and underfloor heating wow.. Lovely walks right from the front door, and a location central to the many beaches and estates good for dog-walking. Super dog-friendly, so we all really enjoyed and will be back!

Hidden Gem - lives up to its name

I’d given up hope in finding anywhere where I could take all the family .. and have a great holiday in a lovely place . I fell in love with Norfolk 15 years ago where we hired boats on the broads .. but dog friendly then meant tatty , nicotine infested boats. Did a few searches and everywhere’s dog friendly if you have 1 dog ... but I’ve always had 3 - so for eight years I stayed home .... until I found ERC online , recommended by a Facebook friend . Had a fab week in a lovely cottage in a fab location . Everything was thought of...from help in choosing a property for us and the diddy dogs ( nervous rescues in training ) and everything in between .
You impressed my mum and that’s no mean feat . Can’t wait for September for our second of 3 bookings. The bar is set high - you won’t be disappointed.

Hidden Gem ... and it’s true !

My first holiday in 8 years - because where do you go with all the family in comfort ? Recommended by a friend on Facebook .. I set about booking a week, longing to be by the sea. Having 3 nervous diddy dogs , I needed a safe , relaxing place to go . Having hired “ dog friendly “ boats on the broads a decade ago where we spent a week on a shabby nicotine infested boat , I’d sort of given up thinking I could get anywhere nice.
We weren’t disappointed , the cottage was gorgeous in a beautiful location. Nothing is too much trouble from time of booking until the very last day , Norfolk is a great place .. in a little time zone of its own. Dog friendly and people friendly we will return ( have booked another 2 weeks ) .

Extremely Dog Friendly

So many places state they are dog friendly when what they actually mean is dog tolerated - often only one small dog with endless restrictions. Well not East Ruston Cottages they say Dog Friendly & that is exactly what they are. A lot of thought has been put in for both human, but especially the canine guests. From the moment you arrive you and your dog/dogs feel very welcome. We discovered ERC three years ago & always book again before we leave so we don't miss out for the following year.
Give them a try you won't be disappointed.

The Piggery

If there was a 20 on your scale instead of 5, The Piggery would be up there. It is so dog friendly the owners have thought of everything such as temporary I. D tags, food bowls, beds etc. The environment was so relaxing we felt a bit like we were staying with friends. The piggery was clean and in a lovely quiet setting with dog walks from the door. The welcome pack was amazing and went down a treat. Great stay.
