Cermar Dog Training - Brentwood, Essex

My name is Dorothy Cullum and I have the Cermar affix.

My background in the canine world is very varied and stretches over a thirty year span.  Through years of learning and experience I am able to offer various services and forms of support. Eager to remain on the active learning curve, and for my love of the breed, I assist with various types of research.

My past experience includes working as a  Lab Technician at the Animal Health Trust, Guy's Hospital, and I spent eight years working for a local Veterinary Surgeon.

I was Chairperson of the GSD League of Great Britain working with Jack Cree in running the working programme for members all over Great Britain. This also involved running the North versus South matches for obedience and trials. I served on the League for a total of seven years.  I was also the head trainer at the GSD Club of Essex and a trainer at SEE DTC. I spent five years working as the News Editor for Dog Training Weekly.

I still compete in Obedience/Working Trails and also show my dogs.  I am a championship obedience judge/trials and breed at open level.  I have run Discover Dogs at Crufts and Earls Court since it began. I have liased with various Police Training Establishments who sought advice on their breeding programmes, and have attended all the Police Dog National Trials since 1990.

I attend most veterinary seminars, writing articles and reporting on them.

I am currently a contact for research and information on DM (previously known as CDRM) in Great Britain and am in touch with vets around the world who are collecting data on this problem.

I presently train dogs - pet to competition and train and coach problem handlers and dogs. My training days are hosted around the country, normally due to popular demand.  I get a great deal of response interest and success as well as personal satisfaction.

In 2001 I registered with the Kennel Club for training and testing the Good Citizen Scheme at all levels. In 2002 I was enrolled as a Founder member of the KCADI scheme.
