Our veterinary clinic used to be the 'Lads of The Village' public house but was later renamed to 'Thames Barrier Arms', when the Flood Barrier was built in 1982. The building was built c.1880 and has been serving the community ever since. Today we like to think that we cure “hangovers” rather than cause them!

We are located on a Green Chain Walk, providing a useful stopover point while out on a walk, if you want any advice or just to collect something for your pet.

The Clinic opened its doors to the public & their pets in November 1997 and we’ve been looking after our clients and their pets ever since. All of us here are dedicated to the care of dogs, cats, rabbits, and a variety of exotic pet animals.

We are open 6 days a week - Consultations by appointment

Monday - Thursday 8am-8pm
Friday 8am-6.30pm
Saturday 9am-5pm
Sunday Closed

AWFUL DUTY OF CARE

Now under NEW MANAGEMENT! Shocking to think been taking my dog here for years, even donated food, gave a 5 star rating last visit.

Phoned today explaining don't get paid till end of week. That's fine they said bring him down booked in for 5.30pm. Now refusing to see me until got funds. Why book me in stress my dog out getting here. Sitting shaking for 40 minutes then refusing to see him. Got a job brought ID home address and bank card. Promised me it was okay to pay end of week. Then turn me away!

Absolutely fuming right now. Will never visit this vet ever again.. Discusting!!!

Does it pay to work, when others who don't work get free everything vet care, teeth, eyes, NHS prescriptions, rent, and free council tax...

Totally upset and drained... Roll on pay day hopefully my dog survived the rest of the day...

Hope this place shuts down soon if this is their attitude and duty of care. Why lie on the phone promise me it's okay then turn me away..

Excellent veterinary practice

My lovely Labrador was diagnosed with canine degenerative myelopathy. Nigel and all the staff at Barrier Vets have been brilliant in their care of him. They managed his pain and gave him another 15 months of Happy pain-free life. Would highly recommend them.
