We are an independently run veterinary practice; owned and managed by a local vet and her family who have lived in the South Woodham Ferrers area for nearly twenty years.

Aisling is a Local Veterinary Inspector and is able to carry out the requirements for the Pet Passport Scheme and other small animal exports. We have digital x-rays, a state of the art laboratory and theatre.

For the next few months we will be down to one vet, Ais will be covering all consults and surgery hours by herself.

To make sure we can still accommodate everyone we will be booking certain appointments in with the nurses.

These consults will include 2nd vaccines, flea and worm checks, nail clips, allergy vaccines, post op checks, weight checks, admits, re-see appointments that don’t require a vet, and small routine consults.

Also, please chat to the nurses on the phone about queries and problems; Ais often ends up with huge lists of people to phone back at the end of every day and sometimes they are things easily solved by the nurses

Veterinary nurses are qualified to do more than people may realise, they often get mistaken for receptionists or just people who sit and answer the phones. They work hard for their qualifications.

Here’s a little list of some of the tasks nurses are more than capable of doing here at Crouch Vale:

Blood tests
Putting patients on fluids
Lab testing
Monitoring anaesthesia and assisting with surgery
Giving medications and injections
Nurse consults
Nail clipping
Dental procedures
Caring for in-patients
Triaging emergencies
Advice and support over the phone
Recovering patients from anaesthesia and monitoring them post op

Super Vets

After disastrous service and misdiagnoses elsewhere, we were recommended to Aisling and the team at Crouch Vale. Everything so far has been excellent, good prices, superb service, really caring staff and even though it is a 45 minute drive from us, it is well worth the travelling.

Excellent Vet Practice

We have been clients for more than 10 years and recommend Crouch Vale Vets without reservation. The care for our wonderful Cocker Spaniel throughout his life could not have been better and following his untimely death we were treated with sympathy and understanding of the highest order. Now our new dog little dog is being equally well looked after and we are very grateful indeed. Crouch Vale Vets is an excellent practice owned and staffed by wonderful people.

Needs to know when they are out of their depth

My dog needed to be hospitalised but this vet does not refer unless you know enough to ask. Her answer is to keep upping the pills. I was told to ask for a referral when I became desperate talking to a friend but by the time we arrived at the hospital the specialist told us she should have been referred earlier. She wouldn't have been referred then if I hadn't asked. My dog died at the hospital. Vets are like general practitioners and should refer cases to specialist. If your pet has a problem other than needing an inoculation don't leave its care with this vet.

Excellent care

I needed to find a vet and sought the views of the local community via Facebook. The practice had an overwhelmingly positive reputation. I have been very impressed with their care, commitment and fees.
