Critical: Professionalism
Firstly I must thank the vet (Sarah) and the nurse (Dawn) as they made the experience of euthanizing my beautiful chocolate Labrador during this pandemic very personal. They allowed me and my partner to sit in the boot of the car with Meg, cuddling her until the inevitable happened. This emotional experience was hampered an hour later when I received a phone call from the receptionist to pay the bill. I couldn’t believe this was happening and his response “my manager has told me to phone you to pay”. The following day I phoned the manager (MJ) who was so unemotional and matter of fact that there was an outstanding bill of £48- it was soon realised after a very tearful phone call that that bill was belonging to another dog (and not mine). It was evident by the tone from MJ that this is purely a business to her and that there was a massive communication issue between herself and her staff. The response from this so called manager was totally disrespectful, inconsiderate to customer’s experiences and thoughtless. I have been with Teilo vets for nearly 13 years and never once have I not paid a bill and this could have been easily identified if the manager and her receptionist staff used their common sense to look through their electronic data. This error was noted 2 years ago of the unpaid bill when Meg underwent surgery and they promised that it would be rectified. We have been loyal customers to Teilo vet providing them an opportunity to appear on CBebbies with Meg on “Rory and Ferne Vet tales”, and this is how I can repaid emotionally.
There are many learning points that manger (MJ) and the male receptionist need to consider: communication, customer service interaction and simply empathy. Both should spend time in reflecting the damage they have caused by this one phone call .
