The Swanscombe Veterinary Surgery provides compassionate, high quality care for their patients on a continuous basis. Their sister branch, the Meopham Veterinary Hospital is an RCVS certified veterinary hospital, which means that a member of the nursing team is on site 24 hours a day, so you can feel reassured that your pet is never alone during their stay.  In addition to the small animal care, Swanscombe are also able to offer a comprehensive equine and farm animal service.

Small Animal Consultations are by appointment only to avoid excess waiting times. However, in the case of an accident or emergency, help is on hand 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  If  you would like to see the same vet, please feel free to ask when booking an appointment. 

Equine Fixed time appointments between 9:00am and 5:00pm • Prompt service • Half an hour for all consultations to allow for detailed clinical evaluation of each animal.  This can be extended for more complicated work-ups such as lameness examinations. 

Farm  The skills and experience we have at Swanscombe are extensive and you can be assured of a professional and caring service from the moment you need us.




Nurse Clinic

Many of the nurse clinics at Swanscombe Veterinary Surgery are free, this includes their weight clinics. You may be referred to a weight clinic if the vet is worried that your pet’s weight is affecting their health. The nurse will discuss your pet’s health, and offer their advice on diet and exercise  at these appointments.

Opening Times

As an RCVS certified Veterinary Hospital, their nursing staff are on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to care for in-patients. This means that if your pet is ever admitted to the hospital, he or she will never be alone during their stay.   Each branch is backed up by the latest technologies with access to your pets’ full medical records. They are also able to transport patients between branches by way of their practice vehicles

Equine patients can be seen at their place of stabling or at the hospital.  The duty veterinary surgeon will be equipped with a four-wheel drive Land Rover with all the medical and surgical equipment to deal with common emergencies. This also allows access to horses that have collapsed or become injured far from their stable on a ride or out in a field. Mobile radiography and ultrasonography allows rapid assessment of injuries. This ensures the most appropriate first aid and immediate care is given. The service is backed up by their links to local equine hospitals for those patients that require more specialist care.

Farm animals can be seen on the farm or at the hospital if appropriate. The farm team come equipped for all the common emergencies encountered in general practice. Payment will be required at the time of consultation by way of cash or card payment. An out of hours fee will be incurred. An estimate can be provided on request.
