Very poor experience here. The receptionist was lovely but the vet we saw (a woman) was very rude and was unable to control a 1 year old cat to remove a staple. She then asked us to take our cat down to Lavister surgery just to have a staple removed because she couldn't do it. My cat would not sit still because she was getting cold and negative vibes from the vet. She has a very good judge of character. The vet then asked my boyfriend to hold her whilst she attempted to remove the staple and then complained that he was holding her incorrectly. In my opinion, she just seemed like couldn't be bothered and did not have any patience. I then registered my cat with a different vet who managed to squeeze us in the same day and was able to remove the staple with ease and my cat remained calm and still, we were in and out within 2 minutes. I'm not saying that the rest of the staff are not fantastic here, but the woman vet we saw didn't have a caring bone in her body considering she supposedly had 20 years experience. Wouldn't recommend

I changed to The Gatehouse Vet Centre in early 2013 and have been extremely impressed by this practice.

I have had the misfortune of needing veterinary care for one of my cats and one of my dogs; each of these pets has received first class treatment from the senior vet, Denis Callanan and his wonderful team of nurses and support staff at Gatehouse.

In addition to dealing with my pets ailments, the practice has had to deal with me...their neurotic mum and believe me, I'm not easy to deal with when stressed! They provided me with extensive information regarding their anaesthetics procedure in order to allay my fears prior to my dogs operation, they appreciated I had concerns and took the time to provide assurances.

I prefer a more natural life for my animals and therefore am committed to titre testing in place of routine vaccination. Gatehouse is a conventional vets, however they took on board mine and other clients concerns and have introduced in house titre testing to address our requirements, this open minded approach is so much appreciated.

Too often people are quick to criticise and slow to compliment; I believe if someone gives an outstanding service, then the recipients of that service should shout about it. Gatehouse Vet Centre is exceptional and I would highly recommend both local and not so local residents (like myself), to provide their pets with the very best veterinary care that they can, by registering with Gatehouse.
